Sloane's first Christmas!!

It was Sloane's first Christmas! We spent it in Idaho Falls with Grandma and Grandpa Suitter. It snowed almost every day, making it a very festive and cozy white Christmas. Sloane got tons of great presents and after the unwrapping of the gifts, the boys went outside to do boy stuff like light fires and shoot guns. The next day, Phil, JJ and Julie went snowboarding at Kelly Canyon with 13 new fresh fluffy inches! The rest of the time was spent by the fire or with the rest of the family. It was a very memorable first!

Who doesn't love a good pair of bunny slippers?

Grandma Shary gave Sloane this little outfit with the bunnies - complete with bunny slippers! They truly are the cutest things you have ever seen... They fit good - still a little big - but we wear them around the house and sometimes even when we go out on the town. Today we had to go to work and it was only 18 degrees outside - cold to many but perfect bunny slipper weather to us!

Santa Claus brunch at Crane Creek..

Each year, Crane Creek Country Club hosts a Santa Claus brunch for families who want to come and meet Santa and have their picture taken. It's a rather festive and joyous occasion - we gave Sloane a bath and put her in a nice dress with tights and a bow and off we went. We met Auntie Ashley and Uncle Spencer there because Daddy is in New York for Uncle Stan's funeral. Sloane was so cute - until she met Santa and decided that she didn't like it one bit! Don't worry baby, next year you will!! We even tried twice to get a nice first picture with Santa - Oh well.

These boots were made for walkin' - or crawlin' - or being carried around in an infant carrier....

These are, in fact, genuine John Deere products! We were going out on the tractor today... not really... just shopping.

Thanks Grandpa and Grandma Suitter!

When Daddys tend their babies....

Not much more to say about this one. Good thing the camera was handy...

Martha's got nothing on us...

Thanksgiving came and went - hard to believe. We were lucky enough to get to spend it at home with both sets of parents and family! Behold our lovely table setting and family photo, courtesy of my talented shutterbug husband!

Everyone got to see little Sloane, too. She loves her grandpas so much!
Since we won't get to see Phil's family for Christmas this year, we decided to go to McCall and have an early Christmas with them. Sloane got a new snow suit for going out in the cold weather along with the new remastered Sleeping Beauty DVD - I'm not sure who was more excited, mom or Sloane!

Money well spent!

We thought we'd take this time to familiarize you with some of the latest and greatest baby toys out there. One of the many we have purchased is the Baby Einstein Under the Sea play mat mobile. Supposed to be good for babies development of motor skills, gives them back and tummy play time, blah blah blah. Auntie Julie and I picked it out at Babies R Us from a sea of similar mobiles for the low low price of (gasp) $70. After all, can you really put a price on babies development? Heck no! We bought it, literally, hook line and sinker. Guess who is the only one who uses it????
Ha! Oh well, guess cest la vie! On a different note, we are getting ready for Thanksgiving! Since Sloane is but a little munchkin, we are having it at our house with all the family! Sloane is doing great - below are some completely gratuitous shots for all of you who just can't get enough of our little nugget! Special shout out to Mira for the awesome onesies! We love Blondie - "Call me, on the line, you can call me, call me anytime, call me..."

What's new in our world...

It's been a crazy week for us. Sloane has been uncharacteristically inconsolable this week so we took her to the Doc as all paranoid new moms do and found she has a bit of colic. The good news is that colic is temporary - bad news is no one knows for how long. Oh well - she's still perfect and sleeping fantastic at night. She's also thriving, born at 7 lbs 1 oz, she's now 8 lbs 4 oz - just growing like a weed.

We have discovered that Sloane loves to go places! Anywhere in the infant carrier is fine with her, either in the car or the stoller. Tuesday we went for a stroll around the neighborhood in the Bob, but we had to bundle up pretty good as winter is setting in here. Asleep and not even out the door yet....

Today we went to lunch with Auntie Julie, Sarah and Sea Bass at Chapalas. Mom loves Mexican food, Sloane isn't so sure -we'll let you know later. This is the cute little outfit that Dave and Nancy Salisbury and Admiral Brillo (http://admiralbrillo.blogspot.com) got Sloane - we LOVE the pink kitty coat it's purr-fect for this winter! Thanks Dave and Nancy! Hope the weather's nice in San Diego and we'll see you maybe at Christmas!

3 weeks old!

We can't believe she's already 3 weeks old! It still seems like we're trying to get settled and figure each other out. All 3 of us are new to this whole parenting thing. This weekend, Phil and I decided to test the traveling waters with a little weekend trip to our cabin in McCall. Turns out she rides pretty good in the car between feedings! Like her mommy, Sloane is NOT a fan of naps and it seems that when she is put down, she doesn't give up easily. The exception, of course, is her Daddy's arms where she will happily sleep for any amount of time!!
What a good Daddy! The book he is reading is Baby Wise - a parenting book about how to teach your child to sleep on a schedule. It recommends NOT letting them fall asleep in your arms, of course. :) This parenting stuff is hard work!!

Seems that diapers are also not leakproof as you can see below. And we thought our kid wouldn't be messy...Oh well, just throw it all on top of Mt. Laundry in the utility room... We're also rethinking the silk pillow covers in the living room... Even the cats stay far away from the messy, loud new little darling in the house.

Stay tuned for more lessons learned in the Winter's household!
